Ukulele Lessons:

Students will be taught all about one of the easiest, coolest, most versatile instruments on the planet, the ukulele (properly pronounced “oo-koo-LEH-leh”)! Students will primarily be using chord charts but they will also be exposed to tablature, sheet music, and the Nashville Numbering System. It is recommended to speak with us before purchasing an ukulele so you can get the right size for your student (yes, they come in a bunch of sizes, Tenor is recommended for most players at GSS), and a reliable brand. Brands we love the most for beginners are Islander and Kala, but if you can afford one of the Big “K Brands” (Kanile’a, Kamaka, etc… if you know, you know, if you don’t, call us first) go for it! Students will need their own ukulele, their own tuner, and a three ring binder.

NOTE It is required that students have an instrument that will stay perfectly in tune and with an action low enough to be easy to hold proper fingerings. It may be necessary to have your current instrument sent to another professional for a proper set up, or to have another more appropriate instrument purchased prior to starting lessons. We do not sell or set up instruments here at Great Scot Studio but can recommend some great shops for you.
